July 4th Celebration in Texas

3 July enjoying a rather large celebration of the 4th with friends at the  Levitt Center in Arlington, Texas!  What a show they put on complete with a magnificent display of fireworks that evening.  I suddenly had tears in my eyes when they played the Star Spangled Banner and America The Beautiful.  Suppose that’s what happens when you have been out of the country for so many years.  

The next morning I was reading about the Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic and Country Throwdown being held at the famed Billy Bob’s of Texas.  We opted not to attend due to the heat and expected crowd but I had to ask myself a question. The newspaper noted a section headed “If you go….”.  It said, “Don’t bring coolers, food, drinks, audio/recording devices, chairs, umbrellas, pets and WEAPONS!”  Now why must you tell people in writing not to bring weapons to a party??

I realize this is Texas but people should know better!!
